Excavators
The
word excavate means to dig, and that's just what an excavator does. Excavators
are fun to watch. The giant arm bends down and the bucket scoops up a
big load of dirt then swings around and drops its load. Excavators are
used for many jobs including digging a foundation hole for a new house,
building a road, or digging a trench for sewer pipes and utility lines |

Off-Road Dump Trucks
This
off-road dump truck is built to move heavy loads from one place to another
on construction sites or in mining operations. These off-road trucks can
be as big as a house, and are much too big to drive on the same roads
that cars do. The biggest truck is over 24 feet high, 27 feet wide, 50
feet long, and weighs 410,000 pounds. It can haul a 620,000 pound load.

Bulldozers
Bulldozers
are used to push heavy loads for many jobs including road building, site
clearing, and landfill operations. They move on steel tracks that grip
the ground and give them more pushing power than rubber tires. The tracks
also spread the weight of the machine over a larger area than tires would
to help keep it from getting stuck in wet places. |
